Final Exam PART: 3

This photo uses the rule of Rule of Thirds. Because, the photographer angled the speaker making the speaker be the only thing the viewer is focused on.
Another rule would be background/cropping. Because the filled blue sky makes the speaker pop out and the viewers attention is only on the speaker.

This photo has the rule of Leading lines. Because the track has parallel horizontal lines that pop out to the viewer. The lines also lead the runner to the end of the track.

This photo is using the rule of Viewpoint. Because the photographer takes the picture as a sideline contestant, as if the contestant was watching her.

This photo uses the rule of Symmetry. Because if their was a line cut down the middle of the photo and spread apart, both sides of the photo would look pretty much the same but just different colors. The photographer does this by taking a shot almost exactly in the middle of it.
It also uses background. Because the sky gives a nice blue background and the moon adds to be another circle in the rings and fits in.

My Room

My room is perfect for me, I have a huge bed for my wild sleeping when i sleep hard and good all throughout the night. My room has a desk with my monitor/Tv for when i feel like watching tv, Playing xbox, and or just chillin on the Internet, its in a nice corner and a perfect set up. Then on the opposite side i have something to hold my small items like, my clock, Deodorant and just stuff like that. I have a body mirror with all my beanies hanging from them. I love my room set up.
Thanks to my mom for setting it up and moving it around all over as a small surprise from coming home from a friends house. Before that it was ugly and a huge mess. THANKS MOM!

Elements of art/Princibles of design definitions

Line: Marks made by a pointed tool: brush, pencil, pen, etc. Lines can vary in width, direction, curvature, length, or color.

Shape: Are formed wherever the ends of a continuous line meet. Geometric shapes such as circles, triangles or squares have perfect, uniform measurements and don't often appear in nature. Organic shapes are associated with things from the natural world, like plants and animals.

Color: Wheels show the primary colors, secondary colors, and the tertiary (intermediate) colors. They also show the relationships between complementary colors across from each other, such as blue and orange; and analogous (similar or related) colors next to each other such as yellow, green, and blue. Black and white may be thought of as colors but, in fact, they are not. White light is the presence of all color; black is the absence of reflected light and therefore the absence of color.

Value (Tone): Refers to dark and light; the value scale refers to black and white with all gradations of gray in between.  Value contrasts help us to see and understand a two-dimensional work of art.

Form: Describes objects that are three-dimensional, having length, width, and height.

Texture: Can be rough, bumpy, slick, scratchy, smooth, silky, soft, prickly--the list is endless.  Texture refers to the surface quality, both simulated and actual, of artwork.

Space: Refers to distances or areas around, between, or within components of a piece. Space can be positive (white or light) or  negative (black or dark), open or closed, shallow or deep, and two-dimensional or three-dimensional.

Balance: The comfortable or pleasing arrangement of things in art.  There are three different types of balance: symmetrical, asymmetrical, and radial. The human figure is symmetrically balanced; the same on the left and right side. The tree is asymmetrically balanced; its branches are not distributed equally on each side, but their total weight is balanced left and right. The sun is an example of radial balance; all its rays are equal in length from the center.

Contrast: Is created by using elements that conflict with one another. Often, contrast is created using complementary colors or extremely light and dark values. Contrast creates interest in a piece and often draws the eye to certain areas. It is used to make a painting look interesting.

Emphasis: In the focal area of an artwork gives it importance.  An artist may stress some elements of the design over others. The eye of the viewer will focus on the area of emphasis or center of interest first, then take in the rest of the composition.

Movement: In an artwork means the artist is taking viewers on a trip through the work by means of lines, edges, shapes, and colors often leading to the focal area.  Movement is a visual flow through the composition. It can be the suggestion of motion in a design as you move from object to object by way of placement and position.  Directional movement can be created with a value pattern. It is with the placement of dark and light areas that you can move your attention through the format.

Pattern: Are made in art when the same shapes or elements are repeated again and again.  Pattern uses the elements of art in planned or random repetitions to enhance surfaces of paintings or sculptures.

Rhythm: Is the repetition of shapes, lines, and forms.  Rhythm is a movement in which some elements recurs regularly.  Like a dance, it will have a flow of objects that will seem to be like the beat of music.

Unity: All elements in an artwork are in harmony.  Unity brings together a composition with similar units.  For example, if your composition was using wavy lines and organic shapes you would stay with those types of lines and not put in even one geometric shape.

Mural Review

  1.  I would use the theme of how we are all different. I would take pictures of the students during lunch hanging out with their group of main friends. The purpose would be to show how every group is different and each person in that group is different in their own way.
  2. It would be worth my time to take these photos, because I could possibly see how many different kind of other students there is other than all my friends.
  3.  Some simple advantages would be that its easy to take out if you randomly come up with an idea. Majority of students have a camera phone of their own & they wouldn't have to share with other students for their project. Some disadvantages would be if you want a picture from far away, camera phones wouldn't be able to capture the photo as well as the SLR cameras would. & The amount you can zoom in and out with a SLR camera beats a camera phone, and is also not as clear zoomed in.
  4. Some advantages of using a SLR camera is they take very good photos other than a camera phone. Another would be the camera is better with light, the camera phone is not as well as it is compared to the SLR camera. Some disadvantages would be that you would have to share the camera and that its more complicated (Because I'm not used to them).
  5. Simply SLR cameras, they just take beautiful photos.. Cant be compared to camera phones.

Winners of Wildlife Review

I really enjoy looking at both of these photographs, so I like them neutrally. Nick Brandt's photos are a lot more calm and angled great and were planned how he wanted. The Winners of Wildlife photos have more movement and are caught by luck and still are very amazing photographs.

Purpose Of Photography: Africa & Mural Project

1.) All the photos amazed me from, Nick Brandt. I love animals and enjoyed every picture he took while in Africa.
2.)

3.) I like this photo because, I like how all the attention is on the lion and how the lion seems to be in peace and looking toward the horizon.
4.) The element for this photo would be the "Rule of Thirds"
5.) a. Pentax 6x7
     b. He took these photos because he wanted to be able to record a last testament to the wild animals and places there before they are destroyed by the hands of man.
c.That everyone deserves to live, human or nonhuman. "The world us under terrible threat, all of it caused by us"
     d. "The photos are my elegy to these beautiful creatures, to this wrenchingly beautiful world that is steadily, tragically vanishing before our eyes"
